Fashion

Well it's been a relaxing month to say the least, and a hot one too. For some reason I'm not as creative in the heat, perhaps it's a good thing I live in a northern European country. I did how ever do this fashion illustration for Dansk Daily that covers Copenhagen Fashion Week. You can go to the website and look at the online version if you can't find one on the streets. Often when I do design jobs, it's over email and so I don't always get to see my client in person, this means I usually just ask for basic design information, not know what the client looks like or what exactly the drawings are being used for til it's published. When the final file is sent the contact is broken until the next 'mission' is received. Feels a bit 'secret agent' .

Copenhagen Art Sale/Trailerpark08'

Well I've been on a vacation for the last 4 weeks, so I haven't been doing any updates, but I just had to say if your in Copenhagen head to the ArtGarage this Sunday, July 27th 2008 between 13-18 for some fashion, art, music and bar. Bring CA$H, please. I'm not sure if I'll have stuff for sale there or not, but still head down and support the ArtRebels crew, lot's of other great artists.

One thing I will for sure be apart of is the Trailerpark'08 , it's a Copenhagen art and music festival that will be in late Auguest, lot's of music, lot's of artist's, lot's of fun.

I love the fact there's always something going on.

Then and Now

Here's a b/w drawing, and then how it looks when it's painted. Sometimes it's abit difficult for me to color images if it isn't drawn right, if it lacks areas that can have good colors or to it contains to much white space (negative space) then the over all creation suffers. I am finding it most hard with doing large drawings because I've been so use to doing small compact ones. It's all a learning process I guess.

In other news the The Cheaper Show 8 in Vancouver went well, even though I couldn't attend I got word that 2 of my paintings sold out of 3. It was also a nice feeling that I could reconnect in some way with my old home town. I have a slight fear of being forgotten, I guess that's natural when you've moved half way around the world (I currently live in Denmark).

Photo Booth

Fun photo's from Berlin mixed with some drawings. I don't have to much news, just getting used to the summer weather here in Copenhagen, I always find it a bit tougher to be sit and create when it's hot outside, still it's nice with the warm weather.

Wonderland

I had one of my art pieces published in the 8th issue of wonderland magazine, it's a Danish arts magazine that you can find on the streets of Copenhagen, or here. It was nice to see my work in a magazine, and even though it's not the first time, it was the first time in Denmark. In other news I just got back from Berlin, fun times and got a better feel for that city. I have also updated the about section of my new flash website.

Flash Website

The new website is up and runny. Click on the mountains to enter. There are still a few strange kinks to work out, but I'm pretty happy with it. If you see any errors or have any comments on it let me know. Websites take a while to learn but easy when you know all the steps perfectly. One error seems to mess the whole thing up so it's a lot of trial and...you guessed it error.

In other news I'm off to Berlin for 5 days, and really want to see this show with Camilla Rose Garcia. It looks like a popular gallery from L.A. (Merry Karnowsky Gallery) has set up a second shop in Germany. Looks good.

Amaze08

I was apart of an art event called Amaze08 in Saint Niklass, Belgium. Lot's of creating, drinking, chatting, not sleeping, eating, and being slightly confused on there culture. I showed with such big wigs as Flying Fortress, Swoon, Blek le Rat, London Police, BFree and many more. It was a eye opening event, and I learned many interesting things (such as it's ok to be more upfront with your art). Here are some photo's of the event, Enjoy these random photos

No Rules

I was chatting today with another artist over espressos, and came into the subject of progression. He mentioned that he thought that I had a very solid style but it seemed my pictures were looking very much the same. I needed to take more risks and creative with "no rules". The conversation made me think a lot. I would have to say that I do agree with him, I feel like my work is good but I have this goal to make it more, I want it bigger, and more detailed. In a way I want it to explored. I find though progress is sometimes a slow process, and it naturally grows if you let it. I thought I'd try and break some of my rules and so created this piece.
