Street Art Presentation

Here is a video of the presentation I gave at Pecha Kucha CPH in June 2009. I mostly talk about street art and what I've learnt from it.

Layered Diamond Cutting

A street art event is coming up this Saturday in Copenhagen, all info below. Also did up a little random piece of art using scraps from prints and paintings, turned out neat.

Life Improves

Saturday and it's raining outside, finished off two new paintings this week. I'm going to be apart of something called the Clash Festival here in Copenhagen. I'll have 5 paintings in it. Were hanging the works up on a fence, i think it's easier when you use a white wall. Still I'm sure it will be fun. I recently got a new art studio as well, I'm sharing it with some pretty good people and I'm so looking forward to using it more. It's also very close to my home and so it's nice to be able to just pop in. I've always had studio's that were very far away from where I lived and often I would sleep at the studio, that wasn't always the most pleasent. Life improves with time:)

Float

January comes to a close, and I'm looking more and more forward to the lighter months a head. I reached a bit of a creative block recently, strangely the thing that unblocked it was going out and putting up posters. Now the ideas are starting up again. I realize I need constant projects to keep myself a float. I had a teacher ask me the other day if I had "figured out what I wanted to do with life" The question struck me as not odd but nieve. I thought I was already doing what I wanted to with life, at the age of 26 I think life just "happens" to me. I trust and hope for the best but I can't control my fate, I just do, I just create. I can seek things, but honestly I don't even know what I fully want.

Forest Chrystals

I realize that on vacation I have more time to surf the net and blog, I just came across a deign studio called Forest, they have started to do the art direction for a magazine called Anthem (fashion, music, art), it's pretty neat stuff. I'm liking this wave of designers that mix it up with fine art. It feels like everything is melding together and that there are not as many limits on what is art and what is design (you can paint and do graphic design, and still get respect for both.)

In my own little art world I did two simple paintings, I seem to be getting more into shapes. I think it's just because I can shut my brain off when doing simple things like triangles, it's like a creative vacation.

I Byen

My friend Sarah let me know one of my street art pieces was printed in Politiken (Danish weekly news paper). I found the picture in the corner of one of the pages. Felt nice.

Translated Text

Do Not Fear

Here is a hand made art decal (plastic cut stikcer). I've recently learnt how to hand make them, the process takes quite a few steps, but is neat to apply. Decals are like stickers that last years outside (used in sign work for stores)

Recent shootings in Copenhagen inspired this piece. To be honest shootings in Denmark usually don't involve someone getting shot, it's pretty non-violent here. I'm just thinking the media is going to start coming after immigrants and blaming them, knife violence was an issue earlier in the year...and of coarse people with "immigrant blood" where blamed. I know my "immigrant blood" sure makes me want to stab people more. jeez

p.s. My friend found a shell casing on the street while I was with him

Copenhagen Art Sale/Trailerpark08'

Well I've been on a vacation for the last 4 weeks, so I haven't been doing any updates, but I just had to say if your in Copenhagen head to the ArtGarage this Sunday, July 27th 2008 between 13-18 for some fashion, art, music and bar. Bring CA$H, please. I'm not sure if I'll have stuff for sale there or not, but still head down and support the ArtRebels crew, lot's of other great artists.

One thing I will for sure be apart of is the Trailerpark'08 , it's a Copenhagen art and music festival that will be in late Auguest, lot's of music, lot's of artist's, lot's of fun.

I love the fact there's always something going on.

No Rules

I was chatting today with another artist over espressos, and came into the subject of progression. He mentioned that he thought that I had a very solid style but it seemed my pictures were looking very much the same. I needed to take more risks and creative with "no rules". The conversation made me think a lot. I would have to say that I do agree with him, I feel like my work is good but I have this goal to make it more, I want it bigger, and more detailed. In a way I want it to explored. I find though progress is sometimes a slow process, and it naturally grows if you let it. I thought I'd try and break some of my rules and so created this piece.

Partly Picture

So I've just been working on some different art pieces for an upcoming show in Belgium called Amaze , I'm trying to get 16 small water color paintings and 3 large prints done for the show. So far I'm got 8 partly done so I'm well on my way. The show will be in mid April and all I have to now is get some money together for the flight. I'll figure something out.

I'm also working on a large painting, the photo here is just a tiny section of it. By the time it's done I'll probably of spent 30 hours on it. I trying to train myself to use more time on a single piece, create for the sake of creating and less for the final result. I'm enjoying the process. When I'm done I would like to get some prints made so if that ever happens I'll post them.
